IPADE Hosts 9th ISTMO Forum; Presents Rebrand of ISTMO Magazine

9th ISTMO Forum

On November 9, IPADE hosted the 9th Annual ISTMO Forum at its campus in Mexico City. The event is focused on providing attendees with the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge modern management ideas that align with ISTMO Magazine’s motto – ‘Leadership with Values.’

The audience of businesspeople, academics, and members of the IPADE community enjoyed talks from IPADE faculty and outside experts, including Francisco Garza, Vice President VSSM of General Motors Mexico, Jorge Lacayo, Managing Director of Parthenon-EY, and IPADE Professor Jorge Llaguno, among others.

IPADE Dean Rafael Gómez Nava welcomed attendees to the event, highlighting ISTMO Magazine’s more than 50 years of uninterrupted publication, and focusing on its purpose to, in the words of its founder Carlos Llano, “Speak about philosophy with businesspeople, and about business with philosophers.”

“The last eight editions of the ISTMO Forum have produced ideas that have had an impact on both the business and humanistic worlds,” said Dean Gómez Nava. “IPADE has the privilege of being the home of ISTMO Magazine, one of the few publications that has been publishing excellent work for more than 50 years without interruption.”

ISTMO Forum

Carlos Ruiz, President of the Editorial Board of ISTMO Magazine, closed out the day with a session titled ‘The Deconstruction of Business and the ISTMO Ecosystem.’ Touching on philosophy, architecture, and business, Mr. Ruiz emphasized the need to deconstruct in order to rebuild something new, and announced the rebrand and relaunch of the new ISTMO Magazine.

“We’re different from the Harvard Business Review, from the magazine Expansión,” said Mr. Ruiz. “We approach business from a philosophical perspective, from a values perspective, from a much broader perspective… We’re going to deconstruct, we’re going to change, we’re going to reinvent ourselves, but our essence will remain the same. We’re focused on you, our audience of directors, managers, and entrepreneurs. We’re going to connect with you as people… We want to build a community.”

The relaunch of ISTMO Magazine includes a rebrand of the physical magazine and website, as well as an overhaul of the magazine’s content. ISTMO Magazine is available in print and online. Learn more about ISTMO Magazine and explore its content here (in Spanish).
